GINGERBREAD MEN
Gingerbread cookies are popular baked cookies formed out of gingerbread dough (pasta de pan de jengibre); this cookies are commonly associated with the Christmas holiday, and they are often formed into holiday shapes, gingerbread men or gingerbread houses. Although there are several variations on the recipe, classic gingerbread cookies have a distinct, rich flavor of ginger and cinnamon. This recipe is very easy to follow and delicious!
INGREDIENTS
-          126 gr of brown sugar (azúcar moreno)
-          3/4 teaspoons (cucharaditas) of bicarbonate of soda (bicarbonato sódico)
-          1/2 teaspoons of nutmeg (nuez moscada)
-          180 gr of butter
-          5/6 teaspoons of honey or molasses (miel o melaza)
-          1 egg (huevo)
-          2 teaspoons of cinnamon (canela)
-          400 gr of flour (harina)
-          1/2 teaspoons of salt
-          2 teaspoons of ginger (jengibre)

1.      Heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
2.      Mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt in a bowl. Put the mixture into a blender (batidora), add the butter and honey and blend. Then, mix in the brown sugar.
3.      Beat (batir) the egg and add to the mixture. Put the mixture in the fridge and leave it there for 20 minutes.
4.      Put a small amount of flour on a flat surface (superficie plana). Roll the mixture out (estira la mezcla con un rodillo) on this surface. Roll it out until it is about half a centimeter thick.
5.      Use cutters (cortadores) to cut gingerbread men shapes. If you are an artist, you can just use a knife! Put the gingerbread man on a baking tray (bandeja de horno).
6.      Put the baking tray in the oven and wait for about 12 minutes or until they are golden brown.
7.      Wait 10 minutes before you eat them!

Visiting the Malaga airport and the Aviation Museum

Yesterday, a group of 4th ESO students, together with their teachers, went out of the classroom to learn a bit about the Malaga airport and the history of aviation while they practised English.

Students in the E and G groups had the chance to put their English skills to the test by doing interviews to travellers at Malaga airport. And they did it with flying colours!

Besides, we took an imaginary flight from Malaga to London Gatwick. An Aena guide led us through all the steps preceding takeoff, as well as those following landing.

Meanwhile, students from the A group were visiting the Aviation Museum. Here, they could hop on a plane and see a pilot's cockpit.

It was a great day! We learnt interesting facts about aviation and the Malaga airport. For example, did you know it takes its code - AGP - from the Roman name of the city, Agripina?

a) Share with us any interesting information you learned in the trip, and
b) leave your opinion about the experience.

Thanks, your comments will be of great use for future experiences.

WRISTBANDS FOR GOOD CAUSES!!!

4ºESO-A has designed different wristbands to help good causes. They fight against the Ebola, ELA,

domestic violence and the illiteracy in Africa. They have created a slogan and have chosen the

best colour for their wristband. The aim is to collect money for scientific investigations and

help those people who really need it.

Have you ever collaborated with NGO (non-profit organization)? Do you ever give money to

charity? Have you ever had a wristband to help a good cause?

Hello everyone!!!
As the summer ends and a new school year begins, it’s time to load up our backpacks and head back to school. It’s a great time to meet friends, to learn, to reflect on the changes we want to make and to improve ourselves.
We want to renew and revitalize the English Language Department too. In order to achieve this we are carrying out different initiatives, among them, this new blog dedicated to the English language and culture, journeys around the whole world, celebrations, interesting facts and, of course, your opinions and suggestions, because you, students, are without a doubt the main part of this blog. So keep going, do your best and don’t be afraid of making mistakes.
To start with, we’d like to know your new school year resolutions. Share with all the bloggers those ideas or pieces of advice that will help us to pass the exams, come out on top… and learn English having fun at the same time!
